Korean Medicine Doctor Couple

  Allen & Ji eun Min

Q. What does Los Angeles mean to
you as a couple practicing Korean medicine?

Los Angeles is a place that feels
deeply connected to our souls.

People from all over the world,
with different beliefs and perspectives,
come here to live and work.

Many people here are open to alternative
and integrative medicine,
which creates an environment
where traditional medicine
can continue to grow and evolve.

That is one of the reasons
Los Angeles feels so meaningful to us.

Q. What is the most important value
you prioritize when treating patients?

The value we prioritize most
when treating patients is respecting the body
and listening carefully to what it is trying to tell us.

We believe the body has its own wisdom
and an innate ability to communicate its needs.

Our role is not to force change,
but to support the body
with the right care and guidance.

In many ways, we see ourselves
as helping the body achieve
what it is naturally trying to restore and heal.

Q. Is there anything you pay special attention
to for maintaining a healthy lifestyle?

One of the biggest challenges today
is the constant stimulation and distractions
coming from the outside world.

People are often overwhelmed
by an endless flood of information.

Because of this, we sometimes
lose the ability to notice the subtle signals
coming from within ourselves.

For a healthy lifestyle,
I believe it is important to slow down,
reduce unnecessary noise, and stay
connected to the body’s internal signals.

Listening to ourselves more carefully
is often where true balance begins.

Q. How do you usually spend
your weekends or days off?

My wife and I usually go hiking.

It helps us release the negative energy
accumulated from work at the clinic
and reset both body and mind.

Being in nature allows us to return
to a more balanced and natural state.

Q. In Western countries,
Korean medicine is still relatively unfamiliar.
What do you think makes it appealing
to local patients in Los Angeles?

Los Angeles seems to be a place
where Korean medicine is becoming
increasingly well accepted.

In fact, many major insurance providers
already offer coverage for it,
which reflects its growing recognition.

People who are more open-minded
about integrative approaches especially
those interested in balance between body and mind,
as well as more holistic or spiritual
lifestyles often choose Korean medicine
over conventional Western treatments.

For them, it offers a different perspective on healing,
one that focuses not only on symptoms
but on overall harmony and wellbeing.

Q. I was really impressed
by your Instagram posts.

You seem to find inspiration in travel,
exercise, landscapes, and many aspects of life.

What would you say is the most impactful
source of inspiration in your life,
and how has it influenced you?

My greatest source of inspiration is God,
who created this world and human beings.

The deeper I reflect on that,
the more I am able to experience its beauty.

I believe I was guided toward the path
of Korean medicine, where I came
to understand the principles of yin and yang.

This has completely changed my overall perspective on life.

Q. What is your biggest interest these days?

My greatest interest is helping people live better lives
and discovering the deeper truths of the universe.

Q. Could you share a memorable
or interesting story about a local
(American) patient you’ve treated?

I’ve noticed that many of my American
patients tend to share a similar
kind of response after treatment.

In many cases, patients with physical
pain report a very rapid sense of relief,
sometimes almost immediately
after the session begins.

Others who come in with stress
or emotional tension often describe feeling
a noticeable sense of calmness and emotional ease.

These consistent reactions
are always meaningful to me,
as they reflect how differently
each individual experiences healing.

Q. How would you like to
be remembered as a doctor?

I hope to be remembered as a doctor
through whose hands patients experienced healing.
