Free from cage
Abstract Expressionism is an art movement
that emphasizes gesture and physical
movement as a means of expressing emotion.
Artists associated with the movement
believed that through the freedom
of both mind and body,
they could transform their inner thoughts
and emotions into spontaneous,
expressive acts on the canvas.

The performance, held in a structure
inspired by a birdcage
at a botanic garden in Australia,
was based on that artistic movement
and focused on expressing the 'freedom'
one of the many key characteristics
of Acmeci’s clothing.

I found profound inspiration in the sight
of birds moving freely in and out
of the birdcage, blurring the boundaries
between the inside and the outside,
rather than being trapped within it.
When they are in need of healing and rest,
these birds willingly seek
out the shelter of the cage,
linger there to restore their strength,
and then take flight once more.
For the birds,
this place became more than just a space
of freedom where they could come and go at will;
it became a special sanctuary where
they could find rest and restore their spirit.

We have made this place a medium
of communication through which
we can share the philosophy and beliefs we pursue.

Given the nature of movement
for those who wear Acmeci,
we focused on ensuring that the clothing
provides freedom from restriction,
even in the most basic gestures,
rather than in overly dynamic movements.
In particular, we concentrated on the act
of walking the most fundamental
of our daily motions.

Our commitment to using high-stretch
fabrics and the countless revisions
to the patterns specifically to ensure
comfort around the shoulder blades,
where arm movement begins are
all rooted in the organic relationship
between human movement and emotion.

The fact that we often adjust our clothing
throughout the day to ensure comfort
suggests that our relationship with
what we wear goes beyond
a simple daily interaction;
it is a subtle, ongoing emotional connection.

"Free from cage"
In Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney
Ensuring that those who wear
our clothes can move freely and maintain
their best condition is our top priority,
both now and in the future.
