Fall in music
Dr. Doo Young Choi is someone
who embraces and genuinely enjoys pursuing
two seemingly contrasting passions at once.
We met Dr. Doo Young Choi in a striking space
that felt almost like stepping inside a
futuristic spacecraft from a modern sci-fi film.
There, he shared a life shaped by two
meaningful pursuits both of which bring
happiness not only to himself,
but also to the people around him.

Q. I heard that you’re also
a DJ. I’ve seen a lot of impressive photos
and videos of you on social media.
I first became interested in DJing
when I happened to visit a club during my
university years and watched a DJ perform.
That experience completely drew me in.
I wanted to learn DJing so badly
that I would spend countless days
sitting right in front of the DJ booth,
simply watching and learning.
At first, I would just sit there quietly.
But after going so often,
the DJs began to recognize me.
Eventually, we started exchanging greetings.
Later, I’d bring them a drink once in a while,
and over time we naturally became close.
That connection eventually gave me
the opportunity to learn DJing myself.
Looking back, I’m truly grateful to the senior
who first brought me to that club.
These days, I do more than just DJ.
I also work as a track maker, creating music
of my own while continuing to perform as a DJ.
I’ve even released original tracks as well.

Q. As a DJ, is there a particularly memorable
or proud moment that stands out to you?
One of the most rewarding moments
is when people truly enjoy my performance
when the crowd gets excited, responds
to the music, or even comes up
to tell me they’re fans.
Those moments are incredibly fulfilling.
I also love seeing people gathered
in front of the DJ booth.
Sometimes when I look at them,
I’m reminded of myself when I first
discovered DJing standing there,
completely fascinated
by the music and the energy.
In many ways, both of my worlds working
as a dermatologist and performing
as a DJ share something very meaningful.
The methods are completely different,
but both are ultimately
about bringing happiness to people.
As a doctor,
I help people feel more confident
and comfortable in themselves.
As a DJ, I create moments of joy
and excitement through music.
Because both paths allow me
to make people happy, t
hey bring a great deal
of happiness to me as well.

Q. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a clinic
with such a distinctive interior.
It feels like every detail was carefully
considered did you personally
come up with these ideas?
One of my biggest goals was to
create moments of delight t
hrough even the smallest details.
For example, the dried fruits
we serve here were chosen
very intentionally.
Many of our patients are
deeply interested in beauty,
wellness, and maintaining
a healthy lifestyle.
Of course, we could have served
coffee with macarons or cake.
But those options don’t always align
with the lifestyle many of our patients
are trying to maintain.
So I spent quite a bit of time thinking
about what would feel
both thoughtful and appropriate.
That’s how we came up with dried fruits.
Rather than offering common
options like banana or mango,
I wanted something a little more refined
such as tangerines or figs.
That same mindset carried
into everything else here.
From the overall concept to every interior
object and small design detail,
I was deeply involved in shaping it all.
I tend to be someone who is extremely
detail-oriented almost obsessively so. Laughs.
So naturally, I paid attention
to every corner of this space.

Q. Seeing your work in music
and your remarkable
sense of interior design,
I imagine you draw inspiration
from many places.
Where do you usually find it?
Whenever I travel,
I make it a point to visit art
museums or galleries.
At first, art felt difficult
and somewhat intimidating to me.
I appreciated it from a distance,
but I didn’t always feel a strong connection.
Then at some point, that changed.
I began discovering certain works
that resonated with me personally.
Once that happened,
I naturally became much more interested,
and art gradually became a major source
of inspiration in many areas of my life.
I think the beginning
is always the hardest part.
But once you become familiar with it,
it becomes something incredibly
enjoyable and meaningful.
Art has influenced the way
I think about aesthetics,
music, space, and even the emotional
experiences I want to create for people.
So if you ever travel abroad,
I highly recommend visiting
a museum or gallery in that country.
You may discover something
unexpectedly inspiring.

Q. Is there a special meaning
behind the name “AMRED Clinic”?
The name AMRED comes from
reversing the word DERMA.
“Derma” is associated with skin,
regeneration, and recovery.
That idea strongly aligned with
the philosophy we wanted to build.
By reversing the word, we created the name
AMRED to represent the idea of returning skin
to its healthiest and most natural state.
In other words, the goal is
not simply transformation,
but restoration helping the skin
recover and return to its
original balance and vitality.
That philosophy also shaped
the entire identity of our clinic.
Our core concept is built around
technology, art, and nature.
Those three values are reflected
throughout the clinic from the interior design
and logo to the symbolic elements
that define our brand.

Q. As a doctor,
what do you think makes you
different from other doctors?
What is your unique strength?

Q. What is your goal for AMRED Clinic
moving forward?
